In this Asia Research Poll, we surveyed around 26,000 panelists from eight Asian countries their views on sports in their respective countries and the most popular sports in Asia. Their answers are insightful and surprising. Read more below!
We usually ask our panelists questions based on their preference for one thing over another, like Facebook vs. Instagram or Coffee vs. Tea. This time, we decided to see just how much they knew about sports in their own country.
We asked two questions to 26,000 panelists across the APAC region (Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam):
1. What is YOUR favorite sport?
2. Which sport do you think will be the most popular in your own country?
The results? Though many of the panelist's favorite sport and the sport they thought would be the most popular in their own country matched for some countries, others were different. In countries like Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, many people listed badminton as their favorite sport but guessed a different sport would be most popular.
